Sydney

From a recent trip to Sydney Australia, some highlights and recommendations.

I stayed in North Bondi which is a fantastic spot, right on the beach with a nice mix of cafes, shops and restaurants. Brunch and Coffee in Australia is a bit of an institution, there were so many nice spots. Porch and Parlour was one of my favourites. It was also the first meal in Australia we had after a 24 hour journey so is etched on my memory.

One advantage of being jet lagged is waking up super early and having the city to yourself. The Bondi to Coogi coastal walk is a must and you also get to take photos of the iconic Icebergs pool

Funny enough the Sydney business district was not super high on my list to go to. Its definitely worth a few trips but there are so many nice neighbourhoods with the added advantage of the beach, that you are spoilt for choice. Take the ferry from Rose Bay. It's a great way of getting sights of the Harbour bridge and Opera House as you come into Circular quay.

The Royal Botanical Garden  is great for a stroll and admiring the unique fauna.

We did a couple of day trips outside of Sydney. One to the Blue Mountains, Palm Beach and the Newport Arms, a massive pub on the beach in the North Sydney suburbs.

Paddington and Surry Hills were interesting neighbourhood with handsome Victorian houses.

Chippendale was also another nice neighbourhood.  Be sure to check out Spice Alley and Kensington Street. Spice Alley is an alley of Asian restaurants and street food.  White Rabbit Gallery exhibits contemporary Chinese art. Kakawa Chocolates serves delicious ice cream sandwich's.

Bondi Beach

My favourite beach wasn't Bondi, too touristy but Bronte about a 30 mins walk away, much quieter, smaller but the waves were rougher. On the last night we went to a restaurant called Chiswick.
